3 Days on the Wheel – Discover the Art of Wheel Throwing

Have you always wanted to learn how to throw pottery on the wheel?

During this creative 3-day course, we’ll guide you step by step into the magical world of ceramics. Whether you’re a complete beginner or already have some experience, this course is all about enjoyment, creativity, and the craft of wheel throwing.

This intensive 3-day course is equivalent to our 7-week Pottery on the Wheel course. You’ll enjoy the same learning experience, with all sessions condensed into three full days.

🌀 What will you learn?

• The basics of clay: Learn how to prepare and wedge clay, centre it on the wheel, and create your first pot.
• Creating shapes: Learn to throw cups, bowls, and other forms.
• Refining your technique: Practise your skills and discover how to shape and develop your pieces.
• Decorating and finishing: Explore different decorating techniques, such as adding handles and working with engobes.
• Glazing: Discover the glazing process and give your ceramic pieces their final look. The glazing session will take place at a later date and will be scheduled in consultation with the group.

By the end of the course, you’ll have created a collection of unique, handmade ceramic pieces that, after drying, firing, and glazing, will be ready to take home.

📆 Practical information

🗓 Schedule: 3 days, from 10:00 to 15:30 each day.

📍 Dates: 28/12, 29/12 & 30/12

👩 Instructor: Sara Tama (Dutch & English)

🎓 Level: Beginner to intermediate (this course is not suitable for people with extensive experience)

👥 Group size: Maximum 8 participants (the course will run with a minimum of 6 participants)

🔥 Firing costs: Not included in the course price. Firing costs €14/kg.

🔁 What happens to your work?

After the course, your pieces will be dried, fired, and glazed at the studio. Once they’re ready, you’ll be able to collect them from the studio. Please note that this process can take several weeks.
