Unique vase by Belgian artist Charlotte Abeloos.
Measurements: width 10 x height 20 cm
Glazed on the inside, the outside is left unglazed, raw
The vase is part of her Scotland collection where she uses sand, collected from the shores of Loch Muick in Scotland, as a texture.
Each piece of this collection is unique, you will not find a piece within this collection that is exactly the same. Charlotte plays around with different clay bodies, different application techniques for the sand and different shapes to make every piece unique.
In this specific piece Charlotte used a grogged porcelain and applied the Scottish rocky sand grains piece by piece onto the leather hard work. Once fired the fine sand melts while the bigger rocky sand grains hold their structure and give a beautiful variation in colour. It has a shiny finish that works really well with the mat grogged porcelain clay.
Charlotte’s work is a combination of the three things she loves most in life: nature, traveling and clay. In her work she uses raw materials from nature collected during her travels and finds ways to incorporate them into her ceramic objects.
The process of traveling and finding the natural materials, as well as experimenting with the materials, clay bodies and temperatures, is as important to Charlotte as the final result itself.
